Somino washes fresh whole beans grown in Korea before fermenting them for at most 120 hours, which adds to their inherent flavor and nutritional value. In doing so, we deliver slow food with deep flavors made just for our customers.

Advisor Kim Do-yeon, the founder of Somino, used to be a regular housewife who enjoyed encouraging people with her warm heart and smiles. When her husband was found to have liver cirrhosis one day, however, she became a caretaker for him. Seeing her husband’s condition worsen despite four years spent in the hospital, Ms. Kim could not help but be drawn to natural healing methods and diet therapies.
She happened to meet a person who developed bean yogurt, which served as the predecessor to Somino’s soy yogurt products. The yogurt saved her husband, and inspired that event, she founded Somino to give back to the world by saving people like her husband. As she began researching and developing fermented foods and met various people, Ms. Kim learned that fermentation is a miracle created by microorganisms, and came to understand that health is derived not from medicinal or functional ingredients, but from the most fundamental nutrients. Since then, she has been making various food products by fermenting grains grown in Korea with lactobacillus. Ms. Kim hopes for a day when the antiques she has been collecting since before her marriage can provide a small respite for visitors through a healthy sense of beauty and spiritual enrichment.
The biggest role with which I am tasked is to add depth to the philosophy of my family’s business, in addition to systemizing practices related to Somino’s management strategy, branding, organization, and work process. The goal in this is to provide convenience to more customers and producing food with even higher quality. The first step in achieving this goal was to establish a system of visions. Through four months of self-reflection, study, and seeking advices, I was able to come to a conclusion about the reasons, objectives, and significance of Somino’s business. Only after then could I begin the branding process. By designing everything from our website to product packaging, I sought to visualize the philosophy and objectives of Somino. I also hired experts in each work process to reform the old system in which a small number of people engaged in multiple tasks. I also hired experienced fermentation masters as well as young and bright minds to harmonize the beauty of the old and the young.
I am still tasked with bringing more depth of fermentation culinary culture of Korea in Somino’s operation, as well as promoting Somino more widely in the market and providing more inspiration to customers who already know Somino. To achieve these goals, Somino continues to observe, listen, and study as it walks down its path.
She began Somino to save her family, and she now works to preserve the company’s initial goal of making food that can be consumed by everyone and protect everyone’s lives.
He works to engage in upright management practices to be respected by his employees, consumers, and competitors while contributing to the production of healthy future food for the world.
She works hard to create a beautiful food culture and help every Somino customer to lead a happy life through the company.
